Just forty minutes ago, i found myself literally caught in the 'eye' of a thunder-storm.

I was walking home from the mrt station when it started to drizzle. Being any normal singaporean, i thought nothing of hastening my foot-steps since singapore has drizzles practically all year round...day in day out. As i crossed the traffic-lights to reach the pavement leading to my block of flats, the rain seemed to have picked up rather quickly, and soon, i was trying to position my flimsy and pathetic umbrella at an angle so as to maximise it's area of coverage and to prevent it from being blown away by the strong wind. By the time i arrived at the main enterance of my estate, the pair of three-quads that i wore had already been soaked through from my knees down, needless to say about the sandals that i wore. I jumped whenever a bolt of lightning seemed to flash right in front of me, praying at the same time that none of those horrific bolts would strike me down. Did i ever mention that i have a phobia of lightning ??
Sensing that the thunder-storm would probably take another half an hour odd before coming to a light rain, i ran to the nearest block and took shelter in the void-deck. Well, the void deck didn't prove to be much of a shelter at all. Within the twenty minutes that i was there, i had to 'shift' from place to place as the wind had became too strong and was blowing the rain in all directions. There was even a huge puddle AT the void deck itself . Imagine how the puddle actually GOT there.
After trying to find some wall to shield myself from the umsympathetic wind, I finally found a rather 'safe' and dry spot-the bench, and sat there waiting for the lightning to disappear and the rain to come to a drizzle. Fortunately i had some library book to accompany me. Sometimes i wonder if whatever we do is planned, cos things seem to interlock so nicely with one another, the visit to the library, me borrowing the books, and getting stranded b'cos of the strom.
The wait proved worthwhile though the lightning was still very apparent. Closing three o'clock, i began to make the rest of the way home, praying about not getting hit by the lightning (again) and trying to dodge puddles of water on the road.
When i reached my block, the void deck looked as if someone had intentionally used a water-jet to wash down every inch of the wall and the floor. Crazy rain i tell you. Haha.
It felt very good after i had a warm shower and a fresh change of dry clothes.
Home never felt so cosy in ages.
