of fish and sleep; brooms and shrooms.
haha. i sounded totally incoherent in the title of the post. bad attempt at trying to rhyme.anyhows, the title kinda says of my new year's resolution/s.
like they mentioned in today's urban, keeping ny's resolutions is in, and i guess i shall start with fish.sleep.broom.shroom.
first, eat more fish, particularly the deep-sea fishes like salmon, mackerel, and tuna(still adjusting to the tuna-y taste, esp those soaked in brine).
If only cod-fish, prawns, and crabs were in the list. hehs. well, deep-sea fishes help boost your omega-3-fatty acid intake and i suppose, are a way healthier alternative to red meat. not forgetting, the omega 3 oils supposedly boost the brain power. and by the way, brain cells start dying(or should i say degernate) by the age of 21 for the average human. SO, if you do not want to suffer from an onset of pre-mature dementia, start feeding the body with omega 3 oils, which thankfully come in capsule form.
next, the sleep.
yes, i need to have better sleep this year. the intermittent waking up, sweet dreams that turn horribly nasty within seconds, and my tossing and turning for hours before actually falling into something of a NAP... ALL of it has to stop. i cannot stress how important sleep is.. to me. i'm the sort that needs at least 8 hours of sleep, without which, i'll be a walking zombie, very prone to pms-ing and irritating anyone that steps on my toes, literally.
following, the broom.
well, i'm not eating any brooms. the broom is just, i guess my way of telling myself to be cleaner, neater and more organised in the coming year.
honestly, i have a tendency to collect 'junk'. well, i tell myself that this thing has a use in the future and i hoard it... for maybe 3, 4 years, when during this hoarding period, i don't think i even bothered to look for the thing nor has the thought of the thing actually still being in my room been in my mind. hah.
bah! i'm the typical hoarder, at least the garang guni uncles still sell their hoarded goods for money. is there even a past tense for hoard ?
shrooms next.
mushrooms are the way to go to improve your health.
i was never a mushroom believer. could never pin-point which category of foods mushrooms belong to, since they are technically, not quite veggie, yet they contain fibre and vitamins. but yes, they belong to the top10 list of food to fight/resist against nasty flu bugs which are way too much of a common occurence these days, and its scaring me.
the world is evolving way too quickly.
and they're fumigating outside my hostel again. the last time they smogged the place was .. two weeks ago? it's said that fumigating too often actually breeds a stronger population of mossies according to the theory of natural selection. and they're only suppose to fog an area only when it is said to be mossie-infested so as to kill all of them and prevent them from breeding a genetically enhanced species that become more and more resilient to sheltox. hms.
i'm having training again later. i'm not really complaining, but i guess it's not quite my number 1 priority, then again, it has never been. studies and family have always taken precedence over anything else. and ashamedly, God has never quite been number 1. i need to re-order my priorities, seriously.
come this friday saturday and sunday, i'll be having a care group retreat at a chalet. it's prayer workshop on saturday morning, and wild wild wet in the afternoon. i pray for a good rest before school starts, and a time of fellowship and of getting closer to God individually, and as a care group.
it's hard to imagine the freedom we find from the things we leave behind.
